Last Military honours paid to fallen Vice-Admiral N’GOUA N’GALLY Guillaume
The Cameroon Defence Forces on August 9, 2024 bid farewell to Vice-Amiral N’GOUAH N’GALLY GUILLAUME in a ceremony presided by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Beti Assomo Joseph, in the presence of administrative, religious and traditional authorities as well as a cross section of military personnel and top bras of the military at the courtyard of the Headquarters Brigade.

During the laying in state at the Headquarters Brigade, the brilliant and devoted late Vice-Amiral was posthumously decorated with the medal of Cameroon Cross of Military Valour to the Order of the Nation, following a preisdential decree signed on July 24, 2024.

The medal was a sign of recognition from the Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces for his contribution to peace and for haven loyally embraced the task conferred on him and the pace he set while serving under the flag.

According to the funeral eulogy read by the Commander of the Fourth Joint Military Region, Major General, Saly Mohamadou, the 85 years old Vice-Amiral N’GOUAH N’GALLY GUILLAUME was born on September 7, 1939 in Bikoui, Lolodolf Sub-Division of the Ocean Division of the South Region. After obtaining his degree in law and economic science and Masters in law and political science in the University of Yaounde, his path to greatness was paved from the French Naval Academy in Brest from 1961 to 1963 and earning him a skydiving certification in 1962. He further enhanced his skills at the French Gendarmerie Officers’ School in Melun from 1968 to1972 and the Joint Higher War College in Paris from 1986 to 1988.

Upon graduation, Vice-Amiral N’GOUAH N’GALLY GUILLAUME held several posts of responsibility and he was appointed Vice-Amiral on September 25, 2001. Family members, friends and well-wishers described him as someone with an active military career, who remained loyal to republican institutions and protecting the territorial integrity of the country with a lot of consideration and conviction.

Thanks to his dedication and exceptional leadership qualities Vice-Amiral ascended to the prestigious position of Chief of Staff of the Navy in 1980, a position he occupied for decades. Under his 63 years of loyal services to the state and his visionary guidance, the Navy experienced a remarkable transformation, earning it the respect and admiration of the international community. Before his sudden exit, he was the Inspector General of the Army.

His journey on earth is over, his mission with the Cameroon Defence Forces was observed in Honour and loyalty and as he goes to his final resting place in Lolodolf, South Region,
