MINUSCA : 11th CONTINGENT RETURNS STANDARD TO MINDEF
The Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Beti Assomo Joseph on esteemed instructions of the Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, was handed over the standard on Friday January 30, 2026 at the ceremonial ground of the Headquarters Brigade, by Lieutenant Colonel Kenne Tchinda Valère Martial, the outgoing Commander of the 11th Contingent of the Cameroonian soldiers deployed under the banner of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA).

Speaking during the restitution ceremony, Minister Beti Assomo Joseph expressed satisfaction on behalf of the Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to the outgoing contingent who successfully carried out their peacekeeping mission in the war torn Central African Republic, by respecting the rules of engagement as stipulated by the United Nations. He also pointed out that Soldiers and Gendarmes did not only fulfil the commitments made by the State of Cameroon, but also ensured that peace be reinstalled in this brotherly nation.

The Defence Boss also reiterated that the soldiers were highly appreciated by the officials of MINUSCA and the Central African Republic due to the quality of their commitment, professionalism and discipline as well as respecting the rules of engagement as prescribed the United Nations.

He further explained that though the soldiers contributed in sustaining the aspiration of peace in the Central African Republic, they also went to the extent of making the ultimate sacrifice. In this regard, the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence paid tributes to the soldiers who fell in the course of mission. For this year, the blue helmets played the role of support for the transition process, facilitating humanitarian assistance, promotion and protection of human rights, support for justice and the rule of law, disarmament, demobilization and reintegration.
