Le 27 mai 2024 était un grand jour pour les Elèves Sous-Officiers d’Active de la promotion 2022 du Centre d’Instruction des Elèves Sous-Officiers (CIESO) de Koutaba.

made up of more than 1000 trainees amongst whom 300 Gendarmes, graduated on May 27, 2024 at the runway of the Koutaba airport in the West Region.

After the in-camera deliberation of results, Major General Philip Mpay and his entourage made their way to the runway, where the graduation proper took place. Following suit was the proclamation of results by the Director of Studies, Captain Chimi Seutche Ursule Brice announcing a 99.82% passed, with the most outstanding being a Navy, Ovono Ovono Bertain Junior who scored an average of 15,2. The second was Abadi Bertrand Omer pertaining to the Gendarmerie corps, while Bama Aboumedjo Jorelle Linda of the Army occupied the third position.

Speaking during the ceremony the Commandant of CIESO, Major Abdouraman said, he is confident of the know how they have inculcated in these new Non-Commissioned Officers as their demonstration before the august guests is a fortaste of what they can do.

For the sake of professionalization, the rejuvenation of the troops of the Cameroonian army and their adaptation to the operational level and in response to the new threats, the National School of Active Non-Commissioned Officers (ENSOA) was created by Presidential Decree No. 2001/263 of 12 July 2001 and subsequently became the Training Centre for Non-Commissioned Officers (CIESO) in 2011 by Decree No. 2004 of 6 December 2004.

The idea of creating this school inspired by the standards of schools of great nations such as ENSOA of Saint Maixent in France is to respond to current and future security challenges.

It should be noted that ENSOA has produced 02 contingents; on the one hand, the 2004 contingent, consisting mainly of non-commissioned officers of the Gendarmerie, and on the other hand, the 2006 contingent, which was mixed (Army and Gendarmerie) . While CIESO has produced 05 to date: 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and the 2022 contingent that just exit the prestigious institution. With the continuous quest for excellence, CIESO had an innovation through the admission of health specialists to the 2017, 2019 and 2022 contingents.

To gain access into CIESO, recruitment is based on criteria such as age, good physical condition and above all by the required academic certificate (Probatoire or GCE Advanced level) and/or possessing a high intellectual capacity to meet the achievement of the objectives of the Centre because not only is war physical but also strategic

CIESO is temporarily stationed in the Airborne battalion camp in Koutaba by service note N°001126/NDS/MINDEF/01 of the 2nd of April 2011 and hence benefits from certain infrastructures of the Airborne Battalion while awaiting the completion of the construction of the new site in Lomie.

Present to grace the ceremony was the Senior Divisional Officer for the Noun Division, the Commanders of the 5th Joint Military and Gendarmerie Regions, the Mayor of Koutaba, the President of the Foumban Court, the Sultan of the Bamouns, and a cross section of military and religious authorities.
