THE PRESIDENTIAL GUARD AT THE SERVICE OF THE NATION
The reception and handing over ceremony of a building composed of two classrooms and a toilet block built and equipped by the women’s associations of the Presidential guard for the benefit of the parents’ school in the village of Odock

in Ndjore, community of Mbandjock in the Upper Sanaga subdivision unfolded on Friday September 8, 2023. The solemn ceremony was presided over by Mrs Beko’o Abondo Marie Pascale, wife of the Commander of the Presidential Guard.

In a bid to ameliorate the living conditions of the local population located around its training base, the presidential Guard undertook the project of the construction of school infrastructures for the parents’ school in the village of Odock because it was noticed that pupils trekked over a distance of either 8km or 9km to get access to schools in neighboring villages of Ndjore and Mekomba respectively.

Though this project was first initiated by the parents of Odock village in 2010, in 2019 the school opened its doors with a total of 60 pupils. Due to the difficult learning conditions of the pupils, it should be noted that on February 23, 2021, a first building which was constructed by the Presidential Guard on a surface area of 173m2 with a capacity to house 120 pupils, 60 per class was retroceded in the presence of the Prefect of the Upper Sanaga Subdivision. With an increase in enrolment to 240 pupils, the wives of Officers of the Presidential Guard known as ‘les Dauphines’ together with other associations in the Presidential Guard, thought it wise to contribute in their own way by undertaking the construction of a similar edifice on a surface area of 162m2 on November 22, 2022.

The villagers expressed their gratitude for this new jewel and promised to take care of it so that future generations can as well profit from the largess of the Presidential Guard.

In conformity with the vision of the Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, President Paul Biya, on the Army and Nation bond, the Presidential Guard has always paid particular attention to preserving perfect cohesion with the population through its educational, health and sports infrastructures which are open to all, as well as multifaceted civil-military actions. This social activities make it possible to foster and maintain a climate of mutual trust between civil and military personnel in service or linked to the Presidential Guard and the population
