Troops Fine-Tune Parade Positions Ahead of Cameroon’s 54th National Day
The 20th May Boulevard came alive on Saturday as military boots struck the pavement in unison and parade coordinators barked crisp commands, signalling the final phase of preparations for Cameroon’s 54th National Day celebrations slated for May 20.

Military and security forces converged on the ceremonial boulevard to carry out the crucial exercise of marking positions ahead of the grand national parade. The operation, aimed at ensuring precision and coordination during the official ceremony, was supervised by Brigadier General CHEMBOU ZAMBOU GUY MERLIN troop commander.

Assisted by officers from the Directorate of Military Infrastructure (DDMI) and other senior military authorities, Brigadier General CHEMBOU oversaw the meticulous demarcation of parade positions using white paint. Honour guards, section chiefs, and troop commanders occupied their designated spots as final adjustments were made to the layout of the ceremonial grounds.

The exercise enabled each formation selected for presidential honours to clearly identify and master its assigned position ahead of the highly anticipated event. The rehearsals are intended to guarantee flawless coordination and discipline during the official parade.

Alongside the armed forces, personnel from the police, penitentiary administration, and customs administration have also intensified rehearsals in preparation for the national celebration. Their coordinated efforts are expected to deliver a seamless display of discipline, professionalism, and national cohesion.

The 54th National Day parade is expected to attract top state officials and distinguished guests, highlighting the significance of the commemoration as Cameroon marks more than five decades of the unitary state. As preparations gather pace, the atmosphere in Yaounde continues to reflect a growing sense of patriotism, unity and anticipation for one of the nation’s most symbolic annual events.
