These included a visit of two orphanages in the city of Bertoua, respectively called Fondation Marie France, in the NKOLBIKON neighbourhood, and Fondation Nazareth, situated around the ELECAM branch, followed by the Christmas tree ceremony, attended mainly by children from the families of Defence and Security Forces personnel.
The orphanages visited were chosen by a select committee based on their needs. The Marie France Foundation, with 24 residents aged between 2 and 18, was offered food, clothes and toys, and a cash amount of 230,000 CFA francs to help some of the children facing difficulties in schooling. The NAZARETH foundation, with about twenty residents, received food, toys and clothes.
The Christmas tree organised on Saturday, 23 December 2023, brought together a hundred children aged between 2 and 18 at the esplanade of the East Gendarmerie Legion headquarters. It encompassed a wide range of activities including monopoly, billiards, trampolino, piano, table tennis, draughts, dances, sack races, pignata, musical chairs and whiz kids games. The event started around 10 a.m. and ended at about 5pm, much to the delight of the children and their families, and the organisers as well, who were all happy with the way the event took place.
