The event was chaired by the Colonel Inspector General No.1 (IG1) of the National Gendarmerie, who was representing the Secretary of State to the Minister of Defence in charge of the National Gendarmerie (SED/CGN).

Attendants included traditional, administrative and military authorities, officials of the Presidential Guard and special guests, such as the Goodwill ambassador Albert Roger Milla. After greeting the various delegations, Colonel IG1 made the kick-off of the opening football match, pitting the Central Department of Coordination (DCC) team and the team comprising the Department of Personnel and the SED Intervention Squadron Group (DP/GEI SED). The match ended by a victory of team DP/GEI SED by 5-1.

Speaking when launching the event, the representative of the SED/CGN recalled the reason behind this tournament and the set objectives.

It is noteworthy that this tournament includes all five Gendarmerie Regions. It seeks to promote healthy competition between comrades, to maintain the personnel in good physical condition, and to promote selflessness and excellence.

Moreover, it focuses on the following disciplines: football, handball, basketball, volleyball, commando march, shooting, visual arts, music and literature. It will run till November 2024.

The opening ceremony of this tournament took place in a festive atmosphere, enhanced by the presence of invited guest.
