Solemn start of the third Gendarmerie Unit Commander Course (SCU/GN)
On Wednesday, 18 September 2024, the esplanade of the National Gendarmerie Officers Advanced School (EAOGN) hosted the solemn start ceremony of the 3rd Gendarmerie Unit Commander Course (SCU/GN).

Chaired by Colonel ENGOZO’O Sylvain, Commander of the High Command for Gendarmerie Schools and Training Centres (COMECIG), the ceremony focused on four points: course presentation by Lieutenant-Colonel AKONI Ignatius, EAOGN Commander and also Course Director, address by Colonel COMECIG, group photograph and cocktail.

 

 

During his presentation, the Course Director, Lieutenant-Colonel AKONI Ignatius, pointed out that the course will last from Monday 02 September 2024 to Friday 14 February 2025. It is divided in 04 modules, namely Criminal Investigation, Command, Ethics and Professional Conduct, Public Order and Fight against terrorism.

 

60 trainees form this third class of SCU/GN, including 52 nationals and 08 comrades from Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, CAR and Congo. The course includes two phases: the theory phase in Yaounde and the practical phase at the Advanced Law Enforcement Training Centre (CPTMO) in Awae.

In his speech, Colonel ENGOZO’O reiterated the ongoing efforts of High Command to ensure that Gendarmerie officers can consistently respond to security challenges. Speaking to the foreign comrades, he indicated that High Command has made all arrangements for their stay to be more comfortable.

He equally stressed out that each trainee is expected to cultivate awareness and understanding of the current security challenges.
