Fight against large-scale banditry : staff elements of the Yaounde II
GendarmerieCompany break up a gang of criminals and arrest its members Acting on reliable information, staff elements of the Yaounde II Gendarmerie Company broke up a gang of criminals.

Sweep operations carried out to that end made it possible to arrest an individual believed to be the head of a gang majoring in robberies. His interrogation consequently led to the nabbing of his four accomplices in the Mvog-Ada neighbourhood.

This gang of ex-convicts aged between 31 and 48 had been operating in the city of Yaounde and its surroundings for almost a year. They had robbed two microfinance institutions and made away with over 15 millions CFA F.

These criminals made a living carrying out robberies with bladed weapons. As modus operandi, they would examine the area at first hand, get rid of the guards on the day of operation, using their bladed weapons to access the content of the safe deposit box.

The raids conducted by this Unit resulted in the seizure of a number of bladed weapons.

These five criminals were kept in custody and brought to book before the court on 17 July 2024.
