Road safety: Gendarmes on the front line
With its commitment to significantly curb down road accidents, the National Gendarmerie is continually reorganizing its surveillance apparatus, with ceaseless innovation.

From the 22 to 24 November 2024, the National Gendarmerie deployed surveillance drones along the Yaounde-Boumnyebel highway. This was to reinforce the detachment on the ground, and to relentlessly track down traffic offenders.

On instructions from the SED/CGN, the Information and Communication System team of the Signals Service was tasked to identify some traffic violations, such as unsafe overtaking, crossing a solid white line, speeding, etc.

These violations were punished with zero tolerance, in accordance with regulations in force.

The National Gendarmerie wishes to remind drivers to behave responsibly and in a civic manner while driving.

As a matter of fact, it urges road users to take extra caution while driving on our highways, especially during this festive season.
