National Gendarmerie participates in the 33rd international day of persons with disabilities
Since 1992, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) is observed annually on December 3rd.

The theme for the 33rd IDPD is “๐—”๐—บ๐—ฝ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ณ๐˜†๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ฝ ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—ฃ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€ ๐˜„๐—ถ๐˜๐—ต ๐——๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ฎ๐—ฏ๐—ถ๐—น๐—ถ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐˜€ ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—น๐˜‚๐˜€๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐˜€๐˜‚๐˜€๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—ฏ๐—น๐—ฒ ๐—ณ๐˜‚๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฒ”. The event was co-hosted by the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the Ministry of Social Affairs (MINAS) at the courtyard of the Headquaters Brigade.

Activities to mark this day included speeches by the President of FAP Handisport, the Representative of Persons with Disabilities, the Director of Cardinal Paul Emile LEGER National Centre for the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities of Etoug Ebe, a message from the United Nations Secretary-General, and sports activities.

It emerged from the various speeches the need to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities in decision-making process, and to advance their leadership in every aspect of life. These initiatives will enable them to be included in all parts of society.

The National Gendarmerie was actively engaged in all 5 sports activities organized as part of the event, finishing fifth overall. These included relay race, tug of war, grenade-throwing, and stretcher transportation race.
