The theme for the 33rd IDPD is “๐๐บ๐ฝ๐น๐ถ๐ณ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐น๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ต๐ถ๐ฝ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ฃ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ถ๐ป๐ฐ๐น๐๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐๐๐๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ ๐ณ๐๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ”. The event was co-hosted by the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the Ministry of Social Affairs (MINAS) at the courtyard of the Headquaters Brigade.
Activities to mark this day included speeches by the President of FAP Handisport, the Representative of Persons with Disabilities, the Director of Cardinal Paul Emile LEGER National Centre for the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities of Etoug Ebe, a message from the United Nations Secretary-General, and sports activities.
It emerged from the various speeches the need to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities in decision-making process, and to advance their leadership in every aspect of life. These initiatives will enable them to be included in all parts of society.
The National Gendarmerie was actively engaged in all 5 sports activities organized as part of the event, finishing fifth overall. These included relay race, tug of war, grenade-throwing, and stretcher transportation race.
