Making roads safer during festive season: tight control of the National Gendarmerie on highways
Given the hustle and bustle on highways during the end-of-year festivities, the National Gendarmerie reinforced security coverage along major highways of the First, Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth Gendarmerie Regions on December 24, 25 and 26.

The objective of this deployment is to deter traffic offenders by applying full penalties and enforcing the return to good road practices.

On the Yaounde-Douala highway, this mission is conducted by two teams. The first team is deployed along the Yaounde – Mbankomo – Okoa Maria highway, under the leadership of Senior Chief Warrant Officer NSANGOU Amidou, Deputy Commander of the Yaounde Road Traffic Squad. The second team is patrolling the Boumnyebel – Sombo – Pouma highway under the supervision of Senior Chief Warrant Officer EBOULE KOTTA Josué.

While some road users continue to exceed speed limits, engage in unsafe overtaking, and to overlap a continuous line, it is worth noting that most drivers have chosen to moderate their driving speed.

The National Gendarmerie remains committed to curbing road accident count on national highways and, most importantly, to ensuring that the holiday season is peaceful with no road accident.
