Opération ADAMAWA-NORTH (ADANO): The thirteenth phase underway
In response to the abduction of a 25-year-old Peuhl shepherd, Abdou Alhadji Bandé, on the night of March 10, 2025, in the village of Maffa-Tcheboa, the Garoua 3 :Badjaolla, Tcheboa, and Yagadi, launched an intensive search operation. This led to a confrontation with the kidnappers in the wild of Boki-Baka in the Lagdo Subdivision.

The swift action by the gendarmes led to the release of the hostage, the neutralization of two of the five kidnappers, and the seizure of three AK-47 rifles, three magazines, and 95 rounds of ammunition. Additionally, a tow chain and a padlock used to restrain the victim were recovered, along with various food items including rice, sweets, biscuits, tomato packets, and seasoning cubes. Other items seized included a water bottle, clothes, and sleeping bags.

After a field work by the Colonel, commander of the North Gendarmerie Legion, accompanied by the Sub-divisional Officer of Tcheboa and the Lamido, and after interrogation of the victim, the Garoua 3 Gendarmerie Company was instructed to initiate a second comb operation in the same area on March 13, 2025, to track down the remaining three kidnappers at large.

Still within the ongoing thirteenth phase of Operation ADANO, on the night of March 12-13, 2025, a patrol from the Garoua 2 Gendarmerie Company in the Pitoa Subdivision apprehended three individuals caught in the act of consuming narcotics.

The gendarmes seized two wraps of cannabis and eight mobile phones. An investigation is ongoing in the Pitoa Gendarmerie Brigade to dismantle the local drug ring.

The National Gendarmerie remains committed to addressing the security challenges in the Adamawa and North Regions, which have been plagued by kidnapping incidents for ransom.
