As part of its ongoing efforts to combat organized crime, the Centre Gendarmerie Legion conducted a major sweep operation on 2 April 2025 in the Mokolo neighbourhood aimed at targeting criminal hideouts.

Acting on information about suspected drug dealers and users, the unit was deployed around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, 2 April 2025, to the Mokolo Elobi area, located behind the new tomato market.

This operation resulted in the arrest of 20 individuals, including two women caught in the act of using and selling psychotropic substances and the seizure of several wraps of Indian hemp and bladed weapons.

After dislodging these outlaws from their hideouts, the Pandores immediately went ahead to destroy the makeshift shelters which served as locations for trafficking, selling and consuming narcotics.

This operation, carried out in one of the most crime-ridden areas of the city of Yaounde, was greatly commended by the local populations, as they expressed their relief at being able to carry out their daily activities in a safer environment.

According to Colonel NGUELE Joseph, Commander of the Centre Gendarmerie Legion, the Sub-divisional Officer of Yaounde 2 has extended his warm congratulations to the National Gendarmerie for their commendable action.

Meanwhile, the suspects have been brought before the courts to face justice for their actions.
