During the night of March 29 to 30, 2025, patrol elements from the Yaounde 2 Gendarmerie Company arrested three suspected criminals specialized in taxi-related assaults. The arrest took place in the Biyem-Assi neighbourhood, precisely at "Rond-point Express", shortly after the suspects committed the offense.

At the time of their arrest, they were found in possession of several mobile phones, smartwatches, and daggers.

Following their interrogation, the gendarmes were able to locate and apprehend another accomplice who had fled to Douala. All the suspects are habitual offenders and have been identified by five of their victims.

A thorough search of their taxi revealed several overlapping number plates and bloodstains on the rear passenger doorβ€”evidence linked to the assault of Madame Suzanne, who was thrown out of the vehicle during and sustained a hand injury inflicted by the assaillants.

According to Captain Mbida Thomas, Commander of the Yaounde 2 Gendarmerie Company, this notorious gang operated by picking up passengers in their taxi and robbing them at knifepoint in hidden areas.

Before facing justice at the Yaounde High Court, the criminals were publicly presented to the press on Monday, April 7, 2025.

Meanwhile, investigation is still ongoing at the Yaounde 2 Gendarmerie Company as efforts continue to track down other accomplices.
