FIGHT AGAINST ‘MICROBES’: A DREADED GANG OF 14 INDIVIDUALS NABBED IN THE NKOABANG NEIGHBOURHOOD
In response to numerous complaints of burglaries and assaults in the Nkoabang neighbourhood, and following investigation on the murder of 26-year-old ABENG MINKONDA Alain attributed to the gang known as “microbes,” the Service in charge of Criminal Investigation and the Control of Organised Banditary of the First Gendarmerie Region conducted a sweep operation on the night of 15 to 16 September 2025.

The operation resulted in the arrest of 14 suspects, several of whom were caught red-handed in the act of burglary. During interrogations, they were identified as members of one of the notorious gangs of microbes that had been terrorising the Nkoabang neighbourhood recently. Seven of the suspects are ex-convicts . The latter confessed not only to the murder of ABENG but also to a series of violent acts contributing to the insecurity affecting part of Nkolafamba sub-division. Searches of their residences led to the seizure of daggers, used for the assassination, including machetes, as well as quantities of Indian hemp, cocaine, tramadol tablets, gas bottles, televisions, and other stolen goods.

The suspects were referred to the Yaounde High Court to be held accountable. Investigations are ongoing at the Service in charge of Criminal Investigations and fight against Organised Banditary of the First Gendarmerie Region, in order to break up other criminal gangs.
