Following numerous complaints and reports from local residents about a steady increase in cases of aggravated theft, assaults with bladed weapon and, above all, trafficking and consumption of all kinds of drugs, the Yaounde I Gendarmerie Company arrested 20 suspects around Manguiers neighbourhood.
On Tuesday, 11 November, the shrewd investigators of the Gendarmerie Post, conducted by the Company Commander, carried out a sweep operation in several crime-ridden neighbourhoods within their jurisdiction in the capital city of Cameroon.
During the sweep operation, they arrested around 20 suspects aged between 19 and 33, all of them being ex-convicts, in possession of bladed weapons and indian hemp.
At the end of the investigation, the ex-convicts will be brought before the competent courts to be held accountable.
