Cotton depot fire, SODECOTON de Maroua.
On Tuesday, April 09, 2024 at around 12:30 p.m., the emergency services of the 401st Fire Company of Maroua were alerted to a fire at a cotton depot, at the SODECOTON of Maroua.

When emergency services arrived, the fire involved three piles of cotton out of 10 piles of cotton. This means that 07 piles were spared from the flames (each pile makes about 500 tons of cotton).

Several firefighters were involved, including SODECOTON personnel. A girl and a woman were intoxicated by the fumes and evacuated by the fire brigade.

The rescue operation ended on April 9, 2024 at 6 p.m.

SODECOTON fire hydrants were set in motion, which made it easier for the fire brigade to help them.
