Drowning in the waters of an artificial lake in the village of Dogba, about twenty kilometres from Maroua.
Late on Friday afternoon, 30 August 2024, emergency services from the 401st Fire Company in Maroua were alerted to a teenager aged around 14 who had gone missing in the waters of an artificial lake in Dogba, a village around twenty kilometres from Maroua, while swimming with his friends.

The rescue team, made up of 08 rescue swimmers and five support staff, arrived in the village very early in the morning of Saturday, 31 August 2024. The search began at 07:30 in the presence of the village chief.

After around four hours of exploration and searching, operations were suspended for safety reasons.

Sadly, his lifeless and decomposing body washed up on Sunday 1 September 2024.

Our sincere condolences go out to the family of the deceased.

It is recommended that children are formally forbidden to wander anywhere, especially during this period of heavy rainfall.
