**Flooding in the Ouro Labo district of Garoua**.
At 5.45pm on Thursday 29 August 2024, a flash flood inundated the Ouro Labo neighbourhood, trapping entire families in their homes.

Initial reconnaissance revealed that two families, totalling ten people, had been confined to their homes, surrounded by water that continued to rise.

Rescue operations were immediately launched to help those in danger.

The rescuers, equipped with ropes and life jackets, braved the turbulent water to reach the families. They managed to evacuate them all to safety.

 

Despite the difficult conditions, the fire brigade showed exemplary courage and determination.

 

The fire brigade advises people to avoid settling in high-risk areas.
