Road relief, Wouro-Tchédé market in Maroua.
On Monday, 27 May 2024, at 8.50am, the emergency services of the 401st Fire Company in Maroua were alerted to a Mercedes ‘ten-wheeler’

lorry carrying sweet bananas, which had hit a motorcyclist on the N°1 road, near the Wouro-Tchédé market.

The emergency services reacted quickly and proceeded to cut open the body of the lorry to extract the motorcyclist’s lifeless body.

The body was handed over to the family of the deceased in the presence of the Gendarmerie, the Police and the BIR, who used heavy equipment to lift the lorry and restore traffic flow.

The 40th Fire Brigade Group urges motorists to obey the highway code, avoid overloading, refrain from drinking and driving, take breaks, and be vigilant and cautious to avoid accidents.
