THOUSANDS TURN OUT FOR OPEN DOORS DAY AT 101 AIR FORCE BASE MVAN
On Monday, 18 May 2026, the 101 Air Force Base in the Mvan neighbourhood of Yaounde welcomed thousands of visitors during the second day of the Defence Forces open-doors event. Families, students, military officials and civilians gathered to discover the daily activities and capabilities of the Cameroon Defence Forces.

Visitors explored exhibition stands displaying fighter and transport aircraft, helicopters, drones and technical support equipment. Military personnel and communication specialists explained how missions are planned and executed, while interactive demonstrations showcased logistics, aeronautical technology, security and military operations.

Units including the Armoured Reconnaissance Battalion, Special Amphibious Battalion, Airborne Battalion, Military Health Services and Defence Headquarters were also represented.

‎The event ended in a festive atmosphere with a live performance by legendary Cameroonian artist Koppo, whose energetic blend of rap, R&B and Camfranglais thrilled the crowd.

‎The open-doors event successfully combined military transparency, education, and entertainment, strengthening ties between the Defence Forces and the public during the National Day celebrations.
