During the in-camera working session, both ministers and their close collaborators reviewed the longstanding military and diplomatic cooperation between Cameroon and Chad, particularly within the framework of regional security and stability. Minister Beti Assomo Joseph underscored the strategic importance of the ties binding the two neighbouring nations, noting that their shared 1,100-kilometre border exposes them to common threats, notably terrorism orchestrated by the Boko Haram sect.

Discussions equally focused on cross-border insecurity, transhumance, illicit trafficking, arms circulation and the need for reinforced intelligence-sharing and joint military coordination. The Cameroonian Defence Minister reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to preserve peace within the sub-region through collective action and sustained defence cooperation.

On his part, the Chadian Minister of the Armed Forces, Ex-Servicemen and War Victims, General Issaka Malloua Djamous praised the excellent relations fostered by the two Heads of State and commended the invitation extended to the Chadian contingent to participate in Cameroon’s National Unity Day parade, describing it as a powerful symbol of fraternity, solidarity and regional integration between the two brotherly nations.
