MINDEF presides epaulette award ceremony in Douala.
On high instructions of the Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Beti Assomo Joseph presided over on January 1, 2024 in Douala, the epaulette awards ceremony of some meritorious military personnel promoted to higher ranks prior to the recent presidential decree of December 29, 2023.

The colourful ceremony, which took place at the Beseke ceremonial ground, was attended by the Governor of the Littoral Region, the Chief of Defence Staff, Chiefs of Staff, administrative, religious and traditional leaders not leaving out the commanders of the 2nd Joint Military and Gendarmerie Regions.

After all the military rituals due to a parade ceremony of this magnitude, the floor was given to the epaulet awards proper, which began with the reading of the different presidential decrees and ministerial decisions by the Head of the Communication Division, Navy Captain Cyrille Serge Atonfack Guemo, followed by the affixing of the epaulets of the recipients by their god parents composing of the Minister Delegate and his close collaborators for the officers.

This military ritual was done in respect to the military hierarchy beginning with the officers followed by the Non Commissioned Officers, then the Soldiers of the Rank and File. In each turn the higher ranks became automatically the godparents of the grades that follows.

The ceremony was full of emotions as one could feel the excitement of the family members and friends of the promoted who filled all the spaces of the tribune, giving bouquets of flowers to their loved ones. Selfies from the family members immortalised the event.
