This dangerous criminal ring located in Yapaki-Dibombari lured its victims using fake jobs recruitment posted on social media and other online platforms. Once the candidates were baited, they were stripped of their financial resources, then held captive before being sold to foreigners in conditions similar to slavery.
With the support of the Mbanga Gendarmerie Company, the Bwelelo Gendarmerie Brigade carried out thorough investigations which resulted to the arrest of four suspected members of this dangerous criminal ring at a place called Yapaki-Dibombari. The suspects include a young woman and those arrested fall within the ages of 25 and 30.

During this operation, the gendarmes also rescued seventeen young cameroonians who were under captive pending transportation to Malaysia.
It should be noted that the victims, aged between 23 and 33, had each paid the sum of 550,000 CFA francs to the alleged traffickers hoping to secure a job abroad.
The National Gendarmerie once again urges the population to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious behaviour by dialing the toll-free number 113.
