This mission, led by the Commander of the Fourth Gendarmerie Region, Brigadier General ESSOH Jules-César and his counterpart, Brigadier General Joseph NOUMA, Commander of the Fourth Joint Military Region, is part of enhanced monitoring of the security situation in the far north of the country, an area highly vulnerable to incursions and attacks by the Boko Haram terrorist group.
Welcomed by Colonel MVOGO ABANDA Guy Hervé, Commander of the Logone-and-Chari Gendarmerie Legion, the two Generals successively visited Bargaram, Hilé-Alifa, Makary and Kousseri. These visits allowed them to make a first-hand assessment of the situation on the ground, hear the concerns of field commanders and evaluate the conditions under which defence and security units are carrying out their missions.
The tour focused on threat assessment, the protection of people and property, and the effectiveness of the security coverage in sensitive areas. Talks with local authorities also provided an opportunity to examine how to strengthen coordination among forces engaged against armed groups and terrorist networks operating in the region.
Beyond its strictly operational dimension, this visit led by the Generals carries particular significance for the local population. It reflects the determination of the military authorities to remain as close as possible to realities on the ground and to maintain constant vigilance in the face of the evolving threat. In a context marked by a resurgence in terrorist attacks, the presence of senior officials from the chain of command also sends a signal of resolve, proximity and reassurance to populations severely affected by terrorist attacks.
