FIGHT AGAINT CHILD TRAFFICKING: THE MFOUNDI TERRITORIAL GENDARMERIE REGIMENT (GGTY) NABS A NANNY AND HER BOYFRIEND AFTER THE KIDNAPPING OF A BABY IN YAOUNDE
The news has been circulating on social media since Saturday, 20 September 2025. It reported the disappearance of an eighteen-month-old baby in the city of Yaounde. Following this announcement, the next morning on Sunday, the Mfoundi Territorial Gendarmerie Regiment (GGT) was contacted by the child's mother, who reported the case. According to her, the 20-year-old nanny, named Nanga Adeline, was responsible for this act.

Lieutenant-Colonel Ndongo Jean Alain’s team immediately began searching with the help of specialise services. After examining the nanny’s telephone records, they located the area where the abduction took place in Nkolanga, near Mfou.

An intervention team was then set up. It went to the scene with the child’s parents, including the child’s mother.

This operation made it possible to enter the home of the nanny’s boyfriend and recover the child and her belongings, the nanny herself, and her accomplice, a 25-year-old man named Serge Bekobe.

When questioned by the media during the reconstruction of events that took place on Tuesday, 23 September 2025 in the Nkomo neighborhood, in the presence of the State Counsel at the Yaounde High Court (TGI) Administrative Centre, the alleged baby trafficking couple denied any intention of trafficking.

For the time being, while the two suspects are still being investigated, the Commander of the Mfoundi GGT has not ruled out the possibility of child trafficking.

He nevertheless indicated that the results of the investigations will soon be forwarded to the State Counsel for further proceedings at the State Counsel Office.
