THE NATIONAL GENDARMERIE MOBILIZES TO PROMOTE BILINGUALISM
From February 2 to 6, 2026, the National Gendarmerie demonstrated its steadfast commitment to bilingualism by actively participating in the 21st National Bilingualism Week, celebrated this year under the theme “Artificial Intelligence at the Service of Bilingualism.”

On this occasion, the Secretary of State to the Minister of Defence in charge of the National Gendarmerie, instructed the Translation and Interpretation Unit to conduct inspection missions in selected units. Their mission was to evaluate the implementation of bilingualism policies on the ground.

During these visits, the teams translated essential documents, verified that all posters and public notices were displayed in both official languages, and sensitized gendarmes on how bilingualism enhances their operational effectiveness, among other activities.

Moreover, key institutional initiatives are also underway, such as designating Thursdays as an official bilingual day and encouraging staff to enrol in language courses at accredited training centres.
