SPORT, ATHLETICS: THE NATIONAL GENDARMERIE PERFORMS WELL AT THE FIRST EDITION OF THE 2026 CNSP MINI-MARATHON
The first edition of the Yaounde mini-marathon organised by the National Fire Fighters Brigade on Wednesday, 8 April 2026 was attented by all corps of the Cameroonian Armed Forces, including the National Gendarmerie.

Accompanied by their supervisors, all the athletes gathered at the Yaounde Conference Centre, where they set off in two stages. The first stage was the marathon, covering a distance of 21km and the second was an 8 km race.

The starting signal for both races was given at 6 :10 am. by Major General MAHAMAT Ahmed KOTOKO, Commander of the National Fire Fighters Brigade.

A female athlete from the National Gendarmerie won the first place with a record of 1 hour 42 minutes and 11 seconds. She is Student-Gendarme MONGO MBAPPE from Squadron Group No. 1 in Yaounde.

In the men’s event, Lance-Corporal Boubakary Garga of the Multipurpose Intervention Regiment of the National Gendarmerie came fourth after 1 hour, 20 minutes and 48 seconds on the circuit.

This commendable performance bodes well for a bright future for these Gendarmes, particularly in future competitions.
